2024 Update of the Constitution for Modified Mini Car Club of South Australia

In 2024, our committee has been working hard to improve what our members have the chance to be involved in, as well as what happens behind the scenes. 

We have taken aim at ensuring our processes are aligned with our legal requirements for taxation and insurances. These improvements include ensuring that we aligned with the definitions for a "not-for-profit" organisation, and it will enable our tax return can be submitted in a timely manner come October this year.

The Constitution for Modified Mini Car Club of South Australia historically has not specified the Club to be a not-for-profit organisation and did not include some key clauses that would govern what shall happen if the Club was to wrap up.   

A small working group started drafting updates to the Constitution in March2024, and there have been three separate iterations. This has included meeting to discus points of contention and ensuring all foreseen circumstances of the Club will be governed by these rules.

Whilst amending relatively minor clauses to define the club as a not-for-profit and specifying additional processes and procedures, the working group have taken the opportunity to improve overall formatting and wording throughout. The amendments therefore seem to be extensive, but do not fundamentally change the rules of operation for the Club. They aim to provide clarification, consistency and remove duplication between difference clauses.

The Management Committee proposes a vote to amend the constitution on 10 September 2024. The September General Meeting will be replaced by a Special General Meeting on that night to perform the amendment.

We have attached to the Library/Documents Tab, the amended version, the original version and a marked-up version with comments as to why the amendments are proposed. We welcome feedback on the proposed amendments before the date of 27 August 2024. Feedback will be collated, and where appropriate a vote on any additional amendments proposed by Members of the Club will be held at the Special General Meeting (10 September 2024).
